Me and my battle with the Petrol Head disease

My name is Andrew, I'm 27 and I've been a Petrol Head since getting my first Matchbox toy when I was barely able to walk. As soon as I was old enough to drive I've had a car and the modification process started almost immediately. Slowly at first, learning all the time, them moving onto faster cars and more modifications, all with the aim of making my car drive better and go faster. My love of Engineering and desire to study Engineering at University further fuelled my love of upgrading mechaincal items and when I felt I was ready, I began to design my own parts for my cars.

This obsession wasn't helped by my father's love of motorbikes, nor by my mother's love of fast cars, travelling on family outings and holidays in various GTIs, BMWs and an E36 M3 just whetted my appetite for some serious metal of my own. My friends haven't helped either, most of my closest friends are Petrol Heads too, owning amongst them a Vauxhall VX220, Audi S4, various BMWs, mainly E30 318ISs and various Fords, including a 3 door Sierra Cosworth and a couple of heavily modified Capris along with a host of other metal, some good, some not so good but all linked by a desire to drive!

Education & Professional Experience

I studied Mecahnical Engineering at Sheffield University, attaining a first class Honours degree in 2004. I then went to work for a world leading metrology company as a Design and Development Engineer. My job entailed all aspects of product design, from ideas conception to hand-over of a completed product to the manufacturing department. I was responsivble for development through testing, experimentation, computer modelling and other such methods. As a result I am both qualified and experienced at all aspects of product creation

Why 'K24 Racing' ?

K24 Racing was created as I have always wanted to tune cars and create special parts for them using my skills and knowledge. After being made redundant in 2009 I realised that there had never been a better time to start doing something that I've always wanted to do so I started parts for my current cars (1994 Audi S2 and 1990 BMW 318IS) and speaking to friends to see what parts they struggled to get or what custom parts they wanted! Following some time designing, getting quotes and pricing up the products, I had enough products to warrant starting my own small business.

The name K24 Racing comes from the turbo denomination on my Audi S2. A small group of us on the S2 Forum use the stock turbo cars to take on the big boys, the only option being a refined chassis and well honed driving style to get anywhere close to cars with over 400bhp. The site was originally designed to detail our exploits but has since grown into something larger!
